Question: “Are the statements of the Righteous Salaf implemented absolutely if they are authentic?”
Response: “This issue does not have a steady principle, however it is possible to place some rules for it such as saying for instance: when a statement comes from a Companion and it does not contradict a text from the Book of Allāh or from the ḥadīth of the Messenger and this statement or action is widespread amongst the Companions and then there is nothing reported that one of them contradicted it; in this case the soul is at peace in taking this statement of the Companion or his action.”
Some have gone to extremes when the say: “They are men and we are men” so if this Companion views this matter to be permissible I view it to be prohibited.”
We say to these people: who are you brother in relation to that Companion? What is your level of knowledge and juridical understanding of the Book of Allāh and the ḥadīth of the Messenger?
This is why it is obligatory upon us to take our time and not be deceived by our opinions especially. Instead, it is merely our duty to be true Salafīs, following the Righteous Salaf and following their footsteps and we do not contradict them except for what is established with us from the Book and Sunnah.” [p.38]
